South Orange’s Pure Progress ticket announces detailed platform
The Pure Progess ticket of Trustee Michael Goldberg, Janine Bauer and Nancy Gould has published its campaign platform on its web site, pureprogress.org, this morning. The platform is arranged in six categories: taxes, redevelopment, transparency, supporting education, public safety, and cultural affairs/open space. Each category is broken into three areas: what Pure Progress promised in its 2007 campaign, what it has accomplished to date, and what it intends to continue doing, if re-elected.

Candidates for South Orange Board of Trustees election must file by Wednesday, March 18
As many as 18 residents may be running for the three 4-year trustee positions this May. Sources indicate former Trustee Janine Bauer, who ran with the Calabrese ticket last time, may be on a slate again this year. Longtime resident and man-about-town Tom Morris may also toss his hat into the ring. Other rumors indicate sitting Trustee Stacey Jennings may not run, but last minute changes in ticket lineups are commonplace in South Orange. Among the issues expected to get attention this election cycle are cuts to various departments in order to keep tax hikes as low as possible and questions about village management of grant funds.
