Job cuts and salary reductions at the Star-Ledger

Facing a continuing decline in advertising revenues, The Star-Ledger announced today it will reduce employee salaries and no longer cover the entire cost of employee health-care plans.

Star-Ledger cutting staff to stay competitive

In a meeting with Star-Ledger employees this morning, Arwady said there are no plans to sell or close New Jersey's largest newspaper. He also said the paper has no plans to reduce the number of days it prints, move to a totally online news operation or do any of the other extreme measures implemented by other struggling newspapers. The Star-Ledger's current circulation is 282,575 daily and 405,175 on Sunday.
